Easy Homemade Iced Tea Recipe – Refreshing & Customizable

Like many people, I used to buy iced tea at the supermarket. But once I realized how much sugar it contains, I thought: Why not make it myself?
Sure, I still add some sugar — but way less!
Here’s my super quick recipe for homemade lemon and peach iced tea, a true summer essential.

🍋 Lemon Iced Tea

In Italy, you can find untreated lemons, which means they haven’t been sprayed with harmful chemicals. That’s important, because we’ll be using the peel in this recipe.
1. Get 3 ripe lemons. For extra cleanliness, rub them with salt in a bowl of water to remove any wax.
2. Peel the lemons, being careful not to include the white part (it’s bitter and will ruin the flavor).
3. Juice the lemons and strain out the seeds — we don’t want them!
4. Boil 500 ml of water with the lemon peels, 50 grams of sugar (or less), and 3 tea bags. I recommend something neutral like green or white tea. Avoid spiced ones.
5. Steep for about 5 minutes, then add the lemon juice and strain everything.
6. Let it cool completely before placing it in the fridge.
7. Enjoy this amazing and refreshing drink all summer long!

🍑 Peach Iced Tea

This version is very similar, but since peaches have pulp, it’s better to simmer them to extract more flavor.
1. Dice 3 peaches (ripe or slightly firm).
2. In a pot, combine 500 ml of water, 50 grams of sugar, the peach cubes, and 3 green tea bags.
3. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.
4. Let cool, strain, pour into a pitcher, and chill.
Boom! Your peach iced tea is ready.

🌿 Fresh Summer Variations

Try adding aromatic herbs!
• For a twist, pair lemon and basil: steep a few basil leaves during the process (remove before serving), and add some fresh ones on top for decoration. The flavor is unique and refreshing.
• Or try peach and mint — they’re a match made in heaven! Same method.

Let me know how long it lasts in your fridge… mine was gone by dinner time! 😂
Ciao!
